A subsidiary of Senari Synergy Group of Companies, IOT Management Sdn Bhd holds an Emergency Evacuation Drill at Kampung Goebilt. This joint drill is in collaboration between IOT Management Sdn Bhd, Jawatankuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan (JKKK) Kampung Goebilt and the community of Kampung Goebilt.
The joint drill exercise witnessed by the Management Team of Senari Synergy Group of Companies along with the government authorities which are representatives from Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), Angkatan Pertahanan Awam (APM) Sarawak, Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Sarawak, Jabatan Kesihatan dan Keselamatan Pekerjaan (DOSH) and Department of Environment (DOE).
The joint drill exercise was classified as Tier 3 and the purpose of the drill is to ensure that nearby villagers are equipped with adequate knowledge and knows the required response in case of any terminal accident escalation which require them to evacuate their village just to get away from any impact from the incident. The drill was handled by IOT Management Sdn Bhd’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) personnel which equipped with the tactical experience, sufficient knowledge and training.
The drill is also to comply with ERP: OSH (CIMAH) Regulation 1996 where the Joint Drill Exercise needs to be conducted at least once annually. The scenario of the drill if a simulated fireball burst from Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG)’s Terminal and later escalated to the nearby kampung, which Kampung Goebilt.
Head of Terminal IOT Management Sdn Bhd, Encik Khaidir Ab Karim said that “As part of the terminal safety and Corporate Social Responsibility the drill is done annually, in line with its continuous effort of secured, safe working environment and the well-being of surrounding community. The terminal is not only focusing on the terminal operations efficiency, but also targeting villagers’ awareness and readiness during the emergencies. This exercise will expose the communities with real life emergency including awareness on proper response required if real incident occurred. The outcome of today’s drill will certainly be a platform for us to further improve ourselves and nearby community in aspect of safety.”
