Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd and Kemaman Bitumen Company Sdn Bhd today signed the Joint Venture Agreement to form Borneo Asphalt Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company responsible for the import, storage and distribution of bitumen and bitumen related products in the state of Sarawak.
The ceremony was witnessed by both the Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Deputy Chief Minister, Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Second Minister of Urban Development & Natural Resources and Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hj. Mohamad Morhsidi Abdul Ghani, Sarawak State Secretary who were accompanied by Senari Synergy Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Mohd Noor and Chaiwat Srivalwat, Chairman of Kemaman Bitumen Company Sdn Bhd.
YB Datuk Amar in his speech commended Senari Synergy for its effort in developing its industrial estate at Jalan Bako that consists of the Independent Oil Terminal, a palm oil refinery and that is well equipped and integrated with its own Oil Gas and Chemicals Jetty that caters for the import and export of petrochemicals and oleo chemicals products. He also commended both companies for their commitment to the development of the bitumen facility in Sarawak through the signing of the JV.
He further reiterated that for Pan Borneo Project to be completed on time, it is important for the consistent supply of raw materials such as bitumen and he hope that Borneo Asphalt will strive to provide uninterrupted supplies of bitumen that is of world class quality. In the long run, such high quality bitumen can contribute to lower maintenance and sustainable road.
Datuk Amar informed that the State Government will continue to provide a conducive environment for investments. He mentioned that Sarawak is one of the top 3 favourite investment destinations in Malaysia for the last 2 years, attracting RM11.8 billion in 2015 and RM4.6 billion in 2016. Investors are attracted to Sarawak not only because of its abundant resources but also importantly because of its political stability, business friendly policies, efficient and effective delivery system, social harmony as well as our young and skilled workforce.
The Managing Director, Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd, Tn. Hj. Jefri Ahmad Tambi, thanked in his speech Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar, Tan Sri Datuk Mohamad Morhsidi Ghani, Sarawak State Secretary, Chairman of Senari Synergy and Kemaman Bitumen Company respectively for witnessing the Joint Venture Agreement.
He highlighted that Borneo Asphalt as part of its vision, aspires not only to ensure an uninterrupted supply of bitumen but more importantly to bring to Borneo the best in class Bitumen and bitumen related products to support the Government initiative in accelerating the infrastructure development within the State.
Tn Hj. Jefri shared that the proposed facility will be developed as planned within the Senari Synergy Industrial Complex and will comprise of 4,000 metric tonne tank and other related infrastructure and amenities. The facilities, once completed, will be able to facilitate uninterrupted and timely delivery of bitumen for the Pan Borneo Highway Development. The overall investment is estimated to cost about RM30million.
The proposed facilities that will be constructed at the Senari Synergy Industrial Complex is expected to be completed by 2018 and it is hoped that it will generate more economic activities through creating contract and business opportunities to the local business community as well as generating of employment opportunities.
